Hello
I recently (July 2023) took off the oil pan to reseal it.
2 weeks ago I changed oil and it started the engine noise. I found a couple pieces of the gasket material in the filter reservoir and so I took it to the shop for a diagnosis.
They checked oil pressure and the top end pressure is significantly less then the low end.
The clean out for the oil passage to the top end is under the intake
it's got 244000 MI.
So they say I should replace the engine
Just looking for suggestions
It ran great until I put the new oil in.
Sincerely, baffled
There's more than 1 place to check oil pressure. I remember a discussion, I'll try to find it. You don't necessarily have an oil pressure problem, but with valve noise, better to be cautious.
You must have used too much RTV or the wrong kind. Now there are bits of it floating around looking for places to lodge. You might be lucky and have most stuck in the pickup tube.
I am sure the shop is saying "replace it" based on the miles not anything else. However, it might be cheaper to just put a low mileage used engine in it. It is your wallet.
So I took the valve cover off and found two rockers laying on the bottom of the reservoir, anybody have a name of someone who can rebuild? I'm in shawnee, ks 66227.
thanks in advance

Holy cow, they had that valve cover off to do your timing chains. How could they miss it? Pretty rare for rockers to just fall off. Pics?
And no mention of a dead miss in the 1st post. If the 2 rocker arms were “laying on the bottom of the reservoir “ then it was running on 3 cylinders or maybe as few as 2.
Damage done. Time for another engine.
