Innovative performance chip
I’d done some research into jet chips and others and ended up getting one of these a week before Christmas For my 2006 2.4
Innovative Chevrolet HHR Performance Chip I had read up on what it actually was supposed to do and how it worked so instll was a breeze, just follow the instructions, let your car sit over night, plug the bat back in and drive like normal. I noticed a difference right away in my acceleration and rpm. I’d say it took a week to fully kick in and really notice it all around. Rpm jump from 1000-2000 was just a tap on the peddle, I really noticed it in my daily drive, a 40mpg section of road, at about 40mpg my rpm would remain around 2100. Now with the “chip” driving around 40mpg my rpm stays closer to 16 or 1700 rpm with more kick. Its too hard to say what my mpg gain is so far but before the chip I was around 14.4mpg and now the lowest it has dipped is 15.2mpg. Granted I auto start my car a lot to warm it up since it’s always frozen over so that kills mpg. id love to get it on a dyno to show the real results. overall I’m satisfied with my 75$ investment. |

It’s just fooling the MAF sensor to add more fuel to the mix, tricking it to thinking, Baby it’s cold outside! Been there , done that, it’s on a selve somewhere in the shop with the Tornado air inlet insert and the Poweraid throttle body spacer, both of them did not live up to the expectations they claimed.

Ah, no it was a black plastic case with two wires that your to connect to the tan wires at the MAF sensor.

So you guys completely missed how it does what it says.
it says +hp +tq gain in mpg and throatal response, an it did all of those things to a degree, no I didn’t gain 500hp and no my car doesn’t get 70mpg but it doesnt say that it does. If you read what it claims to do, it does just that. cars use maps and variables to achieve results. changing a variable on a map or how the map reads the variable will change the results. if you cant change the maps, you can change the variable so you get the wanted results out of the map. if this is fooy then how do cold air intkes work, they use the same principle. Cold air intake bring in colder more dense air, changing your sensor signal to read a colder temp/ denser ai. |

It can’t be all, bad!
I just stated my experience with a similar product and I have K&N FIPK cold air intake, why? I hated how bulky the stock box was, I did this half assed job till I get my k&n filter and I make the tubing.

What it is : a resistor that alters the MAF signal.
Torque is calculated by the ECM using Mass Air Flow and a few other bits. So the computer is computing a false torque value. You are getting lied to if you are looking at the OBD2 readings. |
