I pulled over the other day and told the wife to get out of the car. I didn't notice any HP gains but is sure did wonders for my headache.. lol.. jk...

I have had different setups on mine since I've had it. The first thing I did was a header, down pipe and straight through muffler. That along with a cold air intake was good for fuel economy, and a little extra power for that matter. The cams will give you more power but will take away from your fuel economy. Taller, narrower tires will help with fuel economy as well. I got 38 mpg hwy before cams. After I am getting 32.

Truely when all factored in it doesn't really pay to buy parts specifically for fuel economy. Unless you plan to drive it for many many years you will never completely recoup the initial investment for a few mpg difference. Now if you are after more power that's a little different. But then again it would be cheaper to get a light car with a v8 if you want something fast.
