Mileage Test

I want to perform a test of fuel performance based on my driving habits and Fuel Grade, but i need help determining test duration parameters, should they be based on
Specific number of miles driven, 2. Specific number of Fill-ups, 3. Specific number of Calendar days driven, 4. Complete Fillups with in a specific number of days (i.e. 30 days)

Ohhhh P.S. I plan on doing 3 tests... one for each Fuel Grade available here in San Diego.

I think the numbers of complete tanks with in a specific time period because you have to look at other factors like the Roads conditions, Weather, Traffic and others. Good luck your findings. let us know what gas you are going to use 87%, 89%, 93% oct.

See edit, I plan on doing 3 tests, one for each Fuel grade available here in San Diego.

You have to calculate miles driven vs gallons burned. It will take some time to get an accurate measure. Close to 1000 mi.. But testing different grades is going to prove even more difficult, the grades are octane (anti-knock), not power.
You`ll spend a lot of extra money and add a lotta mi. and won`t know anything of great value...

well , i am regularly running 91 octane now.... this is mainly to prove to myself if there is a difference in performance between the 3 octanes and my HHR

I believe that premium unleaded is the recommended grade for a 2.4L , so just base your test on that grade. Record your fuel purchases, calulate the miles driven, wha-la.
