Thermal expansion is the only thing I can think of.

Is thermal expansion a thing? It has been cold out.

Update: I let the car sit on level ground for a day now. The oil is now over full by less then half a quart. Exactly what I put in.

what is going on?

I know you said it was level every time you checked, but maybe it was not. Other than my garage, I've had a very difficult time finding a level parking spot. Shopping centers, residential areas, even gas stations are, for the most part, sloped for good drainage.

I'll see a spot that looks level, but when I get closer, I realize it is not.

Yes, parking lots that are believed to be level.

But, I never had this problem before, you are saying it is just the oil sensor gone bad and that’s why I am noticing, otherwise the oil does that constantly?

I will change that out first then.
