Possible to disable the speed limiter without an expensive tune?

I'm curious how fast my 2.4 would go without the speed limiter. I've had more than a few moments being pissed at the car because I've been passed by base model Civics and Sonatas that can go almost 130 no problem so I want to find out. I tried a search but I keep getting the HHR SS not the 2.4. Mine can be the guinea pig!

Is there a workaround to get rid of the limiter without a $300 tune? Maybe something to make the speedometer no longer work so the car can't tell how fast it's going? I have no clue how to use HP tuners but just the device is more than the tune so that's out already anyway. No tuning shops around me will do it either, two said either full tune or nothing and the other said they don't do Chevrolet ECUs. Although the tone of the guy was hilarious after I told him it's not the 2.0L. This doesn't have to be permanent, although I'd like it that way right now I'm curious if the car can even go faster than the limiter. I think with enough road I can get it to 130 easily. I currently have Yokohama Avid V rated tires so unless the CVs aren't rated for it I don't see what else could go wrong apart from needing to remove the antenna because it smacks the sunroof glass after 100mph.

Man I wish the SS wasn't worth it's weight in gold I'd already have one but I can't even find a loaded SS. Every one I could find had the cloth and I am not a cloth interior person at all.

FYI. All the SS’s had the same interior black “cloth” on the seats.
Three choices.
Ebony with red accents. Ebony w/grey. Solid Ebony. (2010-Solid Ebony only)
There was no leather seat option with the SS.

You're kidding! I had no clue aw man. The not liking cloth is just a personal preference for me I just have really bad luck with it, I'll spill something and stain them or they'll keep a smell like if I have the dogs in the car or have a passenger that smokes. I must've been thinking of another car when I was picturing a leather interior

The GMPP seats were Ultrasuede. Good stuff.

Going beyond the rev limit with your 2.4 will take you outside the power band and prolly put a rod through the block. I recommend it. Good learning experience.

Your foot is the speed limiter.
There is a RPM limiter that activates if the trans is in neutral.
