For those who put on a header/manifold...

What header/manifold did you get and would you reccomend it?

I'm looking at the Cobalt Addiction header and looking for opinions/experiences.

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

I'm curious of what would happen once you put that bad boy in.

Cobalt Addiction is a good header for the NA cars like the 2.2 and the 2.4 because it's opening is only 2.5" which makes for better torque. Definately a good purchase. It will make a really good difference on your HHR! Expect around 10 horses at the wheels on average for this header. Their price is really good too. You really don't want anything bigger than 2.5" on the NA HHR.

If you don't have an exhaust system yet I suggest the following....
1. Cobalt Addiction header
2. 2.5" Downpipe with highflow cat
3. 2.5" Mandrel bent exhaust with a resonator and free flowing muffler

It may be a bit louder but you can also find mufflers that have removeable silencers that will take the exhaust tone from loud to almost non-existant. Just my . Others on here will suggest alternatives like keeping all your stock piping, or not going any bigger than 2.25". However, changing the pipe diameter by .25" may not seem like much but with the 2.4 engine you will not lose as much of your torque as you would gain from the top end horsepower. Local guys here with Cobalt SS 2.4's are running 2.5" and they noticed quite a bit from their cars.

My situation is that this is my wife's daily driver. (I get it from Saturday 12:00AM to Sunday 11:59PM) I've been reading over at the Cobalt site and the one consistant thing I read was that the downpipe w/high flow cat significantly increases the exhaust noise. I'm attempting to squeeze everything I can out of the car without making it "too loud" for her to drive.

Other than that, I was considering having an exhaust made for it but not in the first half of this year anyway.

If noise is a concern, your best bet is the IMCO T-924 we sell. I've had several cat-backs on my car and quite a few different mufflers but I always keep going back to the IMCO - it really rocks!

Hope it helps,

Already on since last summer, with so many people raving about it I didn't wait on that idea at all!

I liked the IMCO while I had it. My current set up runs much better though!

if you are putting on either of these, may I suggest the cobalt addiction downpipe, this has been shown to free up flow even better than the header,it has been a nice addition for me

I was originally looking at that, but from what I read at the Cobalt site, the high flow cat creates a lot of extra noise. I'm walking a line with my wife's car and I gotta be careful, I would love to hear the difference it makes. That's why I'm probably heading to tunetime for the Cobalt dyno day, that'll help if I can hear this mod first hand.
