Trifecta Tune 2.4

I have the 08 2.4 with 25K on it, I just got the airraid kit and will probably get the Trifecta Tune in March. I have checked on it and there is a dealer and tuner close by and quoted me either 200 or $250 plus $125 for the dyno tuning. I'm thinking it was $250, does this sound about right and do I even need to dyno it? I'm not looking to get a lot out of it, but I would like a better response when I gun it from complete stop. So it would probably be around $400 for all, is it even worth it, or is there something better to spend the money on? Already have GoldLines. lol

Personally I would go with your local guy if they are going to throw it on a dyno. This way they can maximize the tune for your car on the spot. Is there elsewhere to better spend the money? I think so... you got the springs already so how about rear sway bar , and good tires? Its a 2.4L 4 banger , its never going to be a drag car but they do handle real nice if you take care of the above.

See if there is a dealer in your area, or go straight through Vince... (Vince does all the tunes whichever way you do it) Make sure you have all your other mods done first , intake, exhaust, etc. so they can be taken into account with the tune. Even tire size, Vince wil calibrate the speedo for custom tire size. Needing to dyno? It's a nice option, but Vince allows data logging and will change the tune around until it's right, you just email logs back and he makes adjustments... (with in reason, it's not a lifetime adjustment deal, but he worked with me for about two weeks, maybe it was a week and a half... whatever)

With a 2011, realize this may screw up your warranty, depending on your dealer and how easily they like to over look things if they like you, or get nasty with you and blame you for changing your floormats to get out of working on your car.....

Is it worth it? I think it is... My 2007 runs great, much stronger off the line and when passing, get's better MPG too if I can keep my foot out of it. I bought the cable with mine so I can read and clear codes, so it doubles as a scanner. Cost a little more that way, but about the same as a tune + a good scanner, so that was a break even...

do you have to run premium fuel with the trifecta tune
also is it more responsive just partial throttle or do you actually feel that the car is pulling harder when it is full throttle?
I would love to see a true before and after 0-60 or 1/8 or 1/4 mph et with this tune.

I opted for the "93 only" tune... It does still respond to knock sensors though so in a pinch I could get something else to get to the next station without grenading the engine. This is not something that has to be done, there are many options with Trifecta... Vince does what you want, it's not a canned tune. I went for "aggressive" engine and tranny both, without pieces stuck in the pavement if you know what I mean... I had the GMPP intake, so he tuned for that, He also calibrated the speedo for my tire size.

I can feel the difference throughout the throttle, WOT and part throttle response are improved, the flat spot is gone, my shift points are around 6800. It does at times seem to want to stay in 4th once it gets there, which is a factory economy deal... I believe it has to do with the converter lockup. (Maybe, not sure ???) A light throttle touch doesn't drop it down so it almost feels "sluggish" at that point but a heavier foot snaps it down into passing gear and you're off. Or you can manipulate the tranny manually (I have the auto, if you haven't guessed) I don't mind this, it's just something to realize what's going on and work with it. Better than it shifting constantly between drive and OD all by itself which would build up a lot of heat. I had the shifts firmed up also, it doesn't quite chirp going into second but I can hear the tire "scrub" a little bit on that shift. Race car? No... Fun, heck yeah and it surprises a lot of people expecting "Grandpa's car".

I never got any numbers or times before or after. I believe guys that have had dyno runs picked up some increased numbers. Track times should correspond as well.

Thanks Greybeard I am curious With the Shifter in the I mode it runs better than I ever expected Clocked a mid to low 16 and if I could do a couple mods to get into the high 15's in the 1/4 mile and not loose gas mileage that would be great.
Sounds like the tune may be good for a couple tenths in the quarter?

Just guessing, but I'd say so, yeah. I've never had mine to the track.
