3 Bar Grille

Is it possible to cut up a stock grille into a 3 piece grill and not using a mesh? I mean can it be cut and be left chrome and it still look good. I cant find any pics of what the cuts look like without the mesh on there.

Yes, but you would be exposing your radiator/condensor to all kinds of road debris.

Yes you can. With the height off the ground you might be ok. But I would paint the mesh black if you don't want it seem. All it takes is one rock.

The cuts are very visible without using mesh to disguise them. I didn't like mine even painted and meshed without being filled, but it all comes down to your opinion. I did have my grille in for a week without the mesh, but it was painted and filled.

Guess I could buy a grille and just start cutting and see if I like it or not. That painting the mesh black is a pretty good idea. Never thought of that.

That is what I did. I just bought a new one from the dealer and cut my original one up. If you want some more pictures email me.

lots of people have done this mod to their HHR, if you do a search on here you will see many threads on how to do it, and pics. we frist got this Idea after watching TLC's Rides when Darkside Motoring cut 2 of the 5 bars out of thier stock grill then painted it to match, They did not put any screen behind it, but it is a show car, whatever you feel is best.

I don't have any mesh behind my painted 3 bar. I like the look, but may mesh it in the future, just to be safe
