Aluminum dash trim kits -anyone used them ?

I recently bought a 2009 HHR with a black interior. Since it has some aluminum on the steering wheel and lower dash panel it would be better to match that as to go to something wood. Wood is a bit over the top on an HHR--more Cadillac or Jaguar. Has anyone used an aluminum trim kit and how has it worked out?

I bought a carbon fiber kit for mine cause of some damage to the dash and I wanted to cover it up. It did not look right to me, it looked very "stuck on" for lack of a better word. And since most of the kits are expensive (to get a good one) I would really think before getting one. I agree the dashes are a little bland, I was thinking about going to a interior shop and having some work done, in the end It would be about twice the amount of a dash kit, but would be 1000 times better looking. Hope this helps

Try this thread: Wood Dash Trim Kits. Even though it says wood dash in the title there are pics of others in there as well

I would like to get a grey one to match the grey/black interior for just around the radio. But I refuse to get one unless it cover completely around the vents, which I have not found. With not covering completely around the vents it looks like a cheap stick on in my oppinion. I have seen where someone bought vinyl and did it themself to avoid this problem. Looked good actually

I don't remember seeing one that covered the vents.

Why not just paint it?
