Anyone installed mirror covers?

In another post someone said that THESE THINGS just slip over the chrome part of the mirrors but that's not so, you have to pry off the chrome cover and these are supposed to "snap" into the slots in the mirror housing.

Has anyone actually done this? I'd like to hear some first hand experience before I start prying on mine.

Cool Nope, those things replace your current outside covers.

If you check out the supporting vendors, look at HHR Boutique. They have the mirror bras that go over your mirrors just like the front end bra.
But, if you are replacing the chrome with the black, I couldn't tell ya. Mine are body colored already.

Yes I have swapped my satin finish for chrome covers. It isn't too hard really. If you look at the replacements and note where the plastic latches are and which way you will need to push them to release them. Then move your mirror around with the controls until you can look in behind the mirrors and see the latches on the current covers. Then with a long thin screwdriver release them carefully and the old cover will pull straight off. There are also guide pins so you want to pull it straight or they will break.

I added a set of white covers to color-match my AA5. I used the blade of a screwdriver to get a tab out, then the whole unit just snapped out. Pulled both off and replaced with white ones, took every bit of 5 minutes. It really is just a snap off - snap on mod.

What did you use to protect the plastic rim around the mirror?

Just a thought, but why would anyone swap the chrome or satin chrome for black? Black always told me it was an LS. Why would you want anyone to think, at first glance, that your 1LT or 2LT was an LS?

black painted ones could match the body color? The LS is the textured black that doesn't look that good in my opinion.

Who knows what motivates people to do the stuff they do to their cars? Personal preference perhaps?
