Best Father's Day Present Yet: 20" Rims

This is just an initial shot so you guys can see my new rims. Thanks to LayLowCustoms for selling them to me!! Check it out:

I'd like to say how easy it was to work with LayLowCustoms. We initially haggled over the price for a bit, and then it was on to shipping. This wasn't my only choice for a father's day gift though. I looked through the classifieds here and made offers on some other items. Please allow me to get on my soap box and go on a rant for a minute. Part of why I like buying things in a forum like this is the fact that sometimes people will part with merchandise for considerably less than you could buy it on say ..... ebay. I use ebay as a yardstick for making offers. I check completed items and then I make an offer that is fairly less than the average of what that item is selling for. I don't expect that first offer to work, most of the time. What I DO expect, is a counter offer. That's 90% of the fun for me. The negotiation. Here's what I DON'T expect: when someone comes back from my initial offer with a comment like "You must be a ****in' idiot". I'll leave the @$$hole nameless here, but I just think that's grossly inappropriate. Especially coming from someone that's a "Senior Member". It seems to me that behavior like that does nothing to promote a "community" like we all enjoy here. Ok, my rant is over, and I'm back to enjoying BIG CHROME 20's. Hope you all have a great 4th of July!

You're right, the chrome sticks out farther than the rubber, which really makes me nervous about getting within 6ft of a curb. This is the result of putting a 225 tire on an 8.5" wide rim. My next tires will probably be in the 245-255 range just to add some padding and so that the tire hits the curb before the chrome. I'd go with a slightly taller sidewall but it looks like it might start rubbing the strut in the front. Anyone have any experience with this? It looks like a 255/30/20 would have a similar height with the tread width I want, but I'm only seeing that size as an option for some of the more expensive brands. I'm wondering if a 255/35/20 would have too much sidewall or if it would work. I found that size for pretty cheap (General, Sumitomo, and Cooper all around $120/tire).

You can definitely feel more bumps in the road. Seems like there's more road noise too. I've hit one or two ugly holes unintentionally and it sounds like you just got hit by a Mack truck. Hopefully my research into fatter rubber above will pay off and alleviate this somewhat.

Who decided to put a narrower tire (vs rim) on? That is just asking for trouble. I would get that fixed ASAP, first pothole is you have a bent rim.

That was the rim's previous owner or maybe someone before him if he wasn't the original owner. I see that "CJNAPPO" was selling the same style rims with the same brand of tires (nankang) about 6 months ago so I'm wondering if I'm the third owner or better. The hard part for me is dropping another $500 for 4 tires after I sweet talked the boss (wife) into approving this purchase to begin with. I wonder how it'd look if I went with two fatties in the back for a while? Seems silly on a front wheel drive vehicle but it'd add to that retro rod look. If I did it that way, I could buy the new ones two at a time.

Nice wheels and pics,
Only have you read the rules?
Picture Size in Posts - If you are using the [img] tags, please make sure your pictures are not bigger then 640x480. If your pictures are larger then that, please resize them or if you can’t, just post a link. Many people are using dialup. Be respectful.

No Problem, even those who have been here a while forget and need a friendly reminder.
