Blue LED's in Door Buttons (revised pics)

I decided to put some 3mm LED's in the door buttons (lock and mirror), instead of just "coloring" the OEM bulbs blue, and here are the results...The blue on the "mirror" adjust buttons look the same as the door locks but just don't photo as well.....And I was able to capture a little better shots of the steering wheel controls also.......Regards

easy?

That looks GREAT! Was this easy to do? Was it a 'plug & play' type deal or were there modifications involved? I am a fan of 'plug & play', as I am not very good at performing modifications, especially of the electrical variety!

VERY NICE!!!:thumb:

Definately not plug and play...you must be good with very small parts and a soldering iron...regards

OK...I'll let the secret out.....Jason (en0oNmAI) please forgive me.....

The cluster torn apart looks like this....

The leds used are called surface mounts...they are very small and a PITA to change out. So in this case what you have to do is just change the color of the led's.....OEM is the "aqua" color so as long as you stay close to the "blue family you will be ok.....

Look at the very bottom of the cluster board and you will see a bunch of "white/clear" squares in a horizontal row. That is what the surface mount LED's look like...

Now look at all the "blue" squares around where the gauges would be mounted. Those WERE the "aqua" colored LED's that give you the color you have now. So very simply put, if you color the "aqua" LED's with a "blue" sharpie you will get the results that a few of us have now..

The "red" squares are normally clear/white light and you could color those any color you wish. I did mine red and the needles red and that is how I get the red glow along with the blue in my cluster.

Same thing for the LED's in the radio...they are the surface mount also...just tear apart the radio and "color" all the LED's you see blue.....Regards
