Maybe tarnish it a bit or shoot it with a tinted clear coat?

True of some of the ones from ebay. We have members here though that used vinyl and made them to cover the edges as well with no gold showing.

Not a bad idea We'll see though when it finally gets here and I get to play.

Shaving the beauty bar would be great, but then you got welding and painting and my wife won't like that. Besides, what are you going to do with the lights under there and the tailgate release handle? I also have another idea for that area already under constuction, keep ya posted on process.

There was no welding involved in the bowtie removal. *POOF*=Happy Wife!

Yeah, I was just going to shave the bowtie off the bar, not the entire bar. Although that's not a bad idea either...

Unless I find one on ebay I probably won't though. courthousedeb gave me this link and part number:

A little too expensive.

Thumbs up vinyl from ebay...

I've got the vinyl with the vintage 'Chevrolet' script from ebay...
I think the gold around the edges looks better with the gold script in the center of the bowtie...

I was wanting to shave the whole chrome piece all together. Not just the bowtie. Just an idea I would probably shave the door handles too but there again, welding and painting. Not a happy wife on a car with 2000 miles and two months old.
