Finding shorter door lock pins...

Hey all.

Have any of you replaced your front door lock pins at the top of the door? When I put my arm out the window, the pin sticks right in me.....

I thought of getting shorter ones so when the doors lock, the pin is flush with he top of the door panel.....then no more pencil shaped hole in my arm...lol

Anyone done this?.....if so how long were the pins you found?

Thanks

Corey.

I've been thinking about the same thing. Are they threaded on?

Idea, measure length of pin sticking out when door is locked. then remove pin and measure total length. Then subract one from the other and there you have the length that you want in order to be flush.

the pins on that amazon link sit flush when locked? If you say yes I will buy now lol

lol screw it, bought them anyway. for $5 I can't complain, although $10 shipping sucks lol I should have bought some other stuff :(

Now I'm just gonna have to remember not to have my elbow out the window when I hit 20kph, or I'm sure I will get pinched like I do in my f150. And it gets me every damned time lol.

I'll stick with my stock ones I trimmed to be about flush in lockdown..

Yes they are threaded on. Very coarse thread. Then just trim the stem sticking up & re-install the plastic handle grip..

FYI. if they are All flush & you lost power, you can't open the door from inside.. :skull:

True. I was only going to do the drivers door though....

I had to cut down the threaded rod on the door as the rod itself sticks up beyond the plastic door trim when in hte locked position. I then screwed the stock knob back on and it sits just barely above the door panel.

They don't really bother me much so I'll keep mine stock for now.

I bought a set from a previous "vendor" on here. I think they are still in my map pocket 5+ years later.....
