flamed bowties

Well I decided to paint my emblems yesturday and then figured I try giving them a flame job, I figured if it turns out crappy I'd just sand it down and paint the whole thing. It turned out ok but my airbrush(which I'm very new at) was doing some splattering of the paint. any tips on fixing that?
Anyway, what do you think, be honest becuase I don't want to roll around thinking it looks good and have people gigllin at my paint job. Should I keep the flames or just paint the whole thing?

I like the flame, but not over the gold. Maybe spray the entire bowtie blue and then flame it in white or silver??

agreed! I also think it would look better to do the bowtie blue and do like a ghost flame effect.

I think it looks good, better to want something different and attempt doing the mod yourself. Then trying to tell someone what you want and paying to get something you don't like. If it turns out wrong you can redo it, and if you like the results you win all the way around. To answer your splatter question several things can cause it and depending on your brush, there can be several fixes. Depending on the type paint used, it maybe to thick and building up on the edge of the crown. Also air preasure can cause a problem, weather it is to high or to low. Some brushes you can buy a crown that reduces splatter, these crowns look more like an actual crown then the smooth flared crowns which usually come stock. If the needle has any damage to the point it can also cause splatter. Best to adjust your brush prior to doing your project on a similar project surface, once the splatter is eliminated paint your project. I hope this helps, and more then glad to talk one on one to help anyway I can.

Thanks, Curtis & Deb

Just my opinion.........

I think the paint looks more like "tiger stripes".....not a bad thing. Would leave it like it is.
