Flowmaster

I'm pretty set on getting some exhaust this week. What flowmaster muffler would be the best if I don't want it to be loud inside the car, and a nice deep tone on the outside. Ive been looking at the 50 series delta flow and the super 40 series. Any ideas. I'm wanting to do it this week so any input would help me b/c I'd hate to get it done and then not like the way it sounds.

They sound like s**t on a four cylinder. They don't have the rich deep sound you get out of a muscle car with delta 40s or 50s. I have never heard them on a HHR but I have heard them on other four cylinders. They sound bad a** on V8s but stay away from them if you have a V4. Just my personal opinion. You should wait untill a full cat back exhaust hits the market. You aren't going to do much to your HHR other than change the sound a little.

Don't let me stop you. By all means do it! If you only get a little HP boost and a different sound at least you can say you have a Flowmaster muffler and none of us can say that at this point to my knowledge. Mod away bro! Do what ever you think is good for your HHR and makes you happy.

so out of all of the ones from flowmaster which one do you think would sound the cleanest and deepest. cleaneast meaning that tapping, gurgling sound after its been revved up.

Generally speaking 40s are deeper in sound than 50s but they have more of the tapping gurgling noise as you put it. But I don't think any Flowmasters really sound good on a 4 cylinder. I personally like Magnaflow and Borla.

I had a magnaflow on my focus, and it was awesome. 2.5" in and out. Great sound.
I dont know how a flowmaster would sound though. I know that Flowmaster Super 40's are loud on a 5-cylinder Canyon, and the Super 50 was the quieter one. Up to you though. Good luck.

Your right! I fixed my post. I don't know what I was thinking. Its been a long hard day at work. I'm ready to go home. I had a Magnaflow catback system on my Mustang and loved the sound. I think that will be who I choose when I do my exhaust but I am going to wait untill some catbacks hit the market. I dont see the point in just replacing just your muffler unless you have to.
