One of my headlights burnt out and needs to be replaced

Any recommendations for something better than factory?

 

I just installed some brighter lamps in my fathers hhr.He's getting up there in age and wanted something brighter for night time driving. I got them from auto zone for about 20.00 a bulb. I don't remeber the name of them but when i installed them you can see that thay give off a much whiter light then the factory bulbs.

 

Phillips Xtreme-Power bulbs are what i've got in my HHR. They work great and are a great upgrade over stock.

 

you could also go for HIDs...

i need it to start. i am looking to upgrade all my lighting. and i am clueless as to what will work for me. it would be great to have a light that lights up just a litte farther down the road , but that also doesn't blind other drivers. maybe i want too much. but i drive at least 2 & 1/2 hours 6 mournings a week , i leave around 3am. there is not alot of traffic , but there is enough that have to dim my lights many times.

 

I've been running Philips Xtremes for 6 months now........ they are a good bit brighter than stock and cheaper than HID........And for anyone interested the keep the same color as the stock lights.

 

i personally have no problem with the HID conversions. just seems whenever it is brought up it turns into an arguement.

 

I got the Philips Extremes and the one I got in seems great. Problem is I cant get the other one to twist into the socket. Ironically, the drivers side was the one that burnt out, and I got that one in OK. Then, I changed the passanger side and have to use my left hand inside that tight wheelwell opening. So, now I am still missing one headlight. I will tackle it again later, hopefully with renewed strength. I would hate to have to remove the wheel just to twist the socket in. I may ask a mechanic friend to help me out, but I am a bit embarrassed.

 

some things i have noticed about hids. i don't know where to get a good set. they seem tricky to install. if those are the blue ones or the ones that look like they are bouncing/flickering or something when going down the road , i do not think i would like them , and they don't look much briter either. if you look closely at many of the adds for them you may notice that objects that are not even in front of the light seem to be colored the same color they are advertising- looks like a scam to me. these are some of the reasons i am still looking.
