HELP!!! bowties

OK, its like this, I know a few of you got the blue 60's bowties off ebay and have put them on.

I got the red ones today.

I'm looking at them and at a complete loss as to how to use them, if I even can!!:frown:

Take a look at these two pics and PLEASE give me some ideas!!

Did those come from a 55 or 56 Chevy? If they did, you will have to mark them and grind them down to bold to the exsisting grill. Check with CJ. His did not look that large.

no, these are 67-68

There's is a 1yr model diff between the blue and the red. I just looked at the grill and the bowtie and CJ's post.

I just don't have the tools and patience to grind them down. and now that I see it with my car the reds are so far off it wouldn't look right anyway.

it looks like I'll be removing the gold bowties and color matching them.

It''' look better in the end and more like it came from the factory that way.

Oh well live and learn!

I'll be putting up the two I have for sale in the classified section if anyone's interested.

You can change the red in front under the clear w some red foil as well or something similar that will work.
just bend the tabs easy that hold it on and then go over it and then put back in place and bend back

Now remember, I'm a little slow on the uptake....:D

I can remove the "gold" bowtie part without the chrome piece and it is actually clear with something gold for appearace and that I can paint the underside of it, replace it and it will have the same look as the factory but instead of gold inside it would have my color.

And I'm guessing this is the same for front and back?

Would you suggest the fishing line method of removal?

on the red bowties you just bought
there are 6 tabs on the back that can be make straight in a line and the red part pulls out
you can paint it do whatever,,, id paint it same color as my car
then set it back in, bend tabs

Sounds like a easy mod CJ. I just painted the out side black for now and it is standing up to all the bugs and rain. It looks very good. Might have to do it your way after this summer, but will see how it dose.

I remember a pic of the back of yours now showing the tabs, nothing like that on mine.

Musta come from a different part of China!:D
