LED dash light swap - pics

anyone done it yet? I searched and couldn't find a thing. I saw tons of dash kits and over lays, but non of the dash lights

I doing this right now, so I was looking for ways to disassemble the boost gauge. The cluster wasn't that bad.

So has anyone do it yet?

if you are talking about the leds which light up the dash. I colored mine with a sharpe, thank to RUDEINC to change the lights them selves I hope you are very good with a iron. I will try to find the thread https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/show...hlight=cluster

ballplr, you forgot to put a space before the thread to get it to come up right.

Although mine are starting to loose their color so I need to color them again. Good luck

yeah I'm pretty good with an iron. I've done a few new model Silverados like this. I'm doing the same thing with this HHR SS.

do you have any pics of what you are doing on the hhr. I would like to try mine. Mine aren't bright enough and I dont want to color them again

yeah, I'm taking pics . . . .

and this is completely different ! These are different, I've got voltage on both sides of the surface mounts . . . and they're small as HECK !

They're in series with something else then. It's very common for LEDs to be connected in series figuring a modern bright display LED can drop up to 3 volts. That's four in a 12 volt system with a minimal current limiting resistor.

Oh, the good old days when a diode droped 0.7 VDC, period.

So in your case, the anode is on the higher voltage side, and the cathode is on the lower. The difference is the drop. A little circuit magic can work wonders. A schematic would be even better. Source BSEET.
