Liquid vs. Paste Wax
Liquid vs. Paste Wax
My new VR SS will need TLC to keep it's paint factory-fresh (you know--red paint always seems to require a bit of extra care!)... Any suggestions on the merits of Liquid vs. Paste wax? (I plan on using Meguiar's new NXT--but they make the same wax in both forms, and their web site promotes each equally)...
I always used to prefer the overall performance of paste waxes. However, the newer formulations really seem to favor the liquids. They seem to perform equally as well but are much easier to apply. I recently did the full treatment on mine (wash, clay bar and wax) and used the liquid Zymol and was very happy with the results.
When I got my LT in 2006, I clayed it and put on the 5 Star Wax (liquid). It hasn't been touched since. The black got deeper (as advertized) and the water STILL beads off it (and he gets washed AT LEAST once a week) This product is used on airplanes and boats as well and is incredible! I highly recommend checking out their site and claims. I'm a believer!

I have and use both kinds.....in the new meguires i have liquid..works really well...I have about 8 different waxes now(used to have about 20), only 1 of them is a paste....if they both come in liquid and paste its just mainly user preference and whatever container you feel is the better bargain. I like the liquid just because it seems a little quicker and easier to deal with. But the paste is a easier to control when applying and doesnt run or sling (if your using a buffer)....these cars are simple and easy to wax, especially with a 6-7" buffe
a clay bar is actually a bar of clay....usually comes with 2 small rectangle bars of clay, lubricating liquid - normally a quick detail spray...You just simply wet down a section of your car with the quick detail and take the clay bar and lightly rub it across the surface...The clay will grab all the dirt and loose particles that are in the surface of your paint and lift them out...from time to time you flip the bar and kneed it as needed...once you do the whole car put a nice coat of wax on it to protect it and it shines better, its cleaner and slicker than what it would be if you just wax it only....using a clay bar is pretty time consuming but well worth it...some people clay 2-3 times a year, some people just do it yearly....
Sarge I have a victory Red AA5 and I have used the clay bar and I use the cleaner wax by Meguiars and the Gold Class and man is my car red. Can't wait to see the SS.
