Moon Eyes Project HHR

I just ordered my full wheel discs from Moon Eyes and was surprised to find that they have a project HHR on their site. They haven't done much to it yet other than add a set of Speed Master wheels but it looks good. For anyone who wants to go retro on their HHR, Moon Eyes can help you out. And for us CA folks, they are just right down the road in L.A.

Sounds like you'll have some fun doing that. We've got someone on here who has moon eyes...well maybe just moon eye decals.
See dan-d's HHR.

I have one of their original plaques under the hood of my 64 Datsun L320 pickup.

Songman...

Which discs did you get? Are they like the ones in you pic...

I have a set of Moon discs and Songman's pic had me thinking about using them, but still debating over the discs, the Speed Masters and Torque Thrust IIs...decisions decisions...Chico Kodama from Mooneyes has graciously agreed to sponsor the Mid-Cebtral Regional Run too...They are great people to work with. He told me that they just returned from a GoodGuys event with the HHR showing the Speed Masters.

Yeah, it will look just like the picture (at least when I get it lowered and everything). On an HHR, you have to use the discs that screw on. They are a bit more trouble, but the pop on style covers will not hold on the HHR wheels. This is the only option available. You can get cheaper ones but I went with the Moon Eyes because they are proven quality. They also come with stainless screws that will not rust.

The 16" are $35.25 each. I didn't order online. I called and talked to them to verify that the pop ons wouldn't work. They would be a lot easier but no go.

I'm just going to go over to my local tire store and have them put them on for me, because you need to break the bead so as not to damage it when drilling. I could do it myself by putting a stop on the bit, but I would rather not take a chance on a tire.

For anyone local, MoonEyes is having an event this weekend and also a Christmas BBQ in December. I will probably go to the one in December. The guy with the black woody is coming out from KY for that one. He is a custom painter so I definitely want to meet up with him.

Any pics of what your wheels will look like?

Click on the little camera under my Forum name and you can see the Photoshop mockups I have done. They all are different variations of what is in my signature. I ordered the same exact covers as these pictured below, but I am not going with the wide whitewalls right now.

I'm with you on the whitewall, too retro for me. The pics you did in PS make your HHR look like its ready for Bonneville...200 mph club!
