How did you 'shave' the bumper to get rid of the square "bumperettes"? I thought flex bumpers couldn't be modified (i.e. patched)?

There are flexible repair products that can be used like "bondo"... You would need patch pieces to fill the holes though. A couple of guys have done it around here.
