Nerf Bars
 

I had a co-worker that very recently bought his HHR off the lot(was going to go with a PT Loser, but talked him out of it..hehe) It does not have running boards, but he was talking about installing nerf bars instead. Now I don't see the logic in it, but would any of you guys and gals install nerf bars on your HHR? I've seen some pictures online through other websites with the nerf bars installed. They look ok I guess, but seems....different.

Hell No! :cussing: I think they are ugly, the factory running boards look 1000% times better. :thumb:

Yeah. I completely agree, Capt'n. I think I'm going try to talk him out of it. If no runningboards then nothing at all.

I have the HHR without running boards and I've seen some pics of HHR's with the nerf bars. Personally I do not like either. However, if I start getting damage I would go with the running boards before the nerf bars. I think it's a cleaner look. I plan on keeping mine plain with neither tho and I don't have any major damage as of yet, just over 13K miles on it. The only problem I have is with dirt and road grime, not a lot of roadsalt and I baby it on the rock roads.

I agree with the Captain on this. After looking at them over and over, they just don't look right. Not only that, but up here in the Northeast, nerfs don't keep the road crap off your car. Runningboards will. Not that I have running boards.....yet, but that's another thread.

IMO nerf bars are for VW Baja Bugs and 4X4 trucks!

But then...that is just my "opinion." :smile:

Funny you say that Mike because he traded in a Ford F150 4x4 for the HHR. He had some major Nerf Bars on it. lol So I guess he just has nerf bars stuck on the brain. He was trying to tell me earlier that if he lines the bottom side of the HHR with silver rocker panels that it won't look bad at all with the nerf bars. ugh! I'll get him change his mind somehow before he goes and does something nutty.

Wow thats an ugly combo. :scared: Please tell me he doesn't want to add a off road light rack or a bull bar also. :lol:
