A new California trend?

The folks from the "Just A Car Guy" blog seemed to have identified a new styling/modification trend out in California.

It seems to be called "Stickering a Panel", this HHR was spotted at last weekend's Japanese Classic Car Show in Long Beach.

Two questions arise.....

1. When did HHR's become classic Japanese cars?
2. Why would you do this to an innocent HHR?:wtf:

I live in California and this is the first I have seen of Stickering a Panel. Second, I hope it does NOT catch on. I did hear that the Japanese are buying HHR'S and exporting them to Japan. Why, I do not know.

I'm in Southern California and that's the first time I've seen it. I used to be a yearly participant at the Japaneese Classic Car Show up until 2009 when I sold my last 3 Datsuns. I had a 1978 280Z, a 1979 810 2dr. (somewhat rare) and a 1964 L320 Pickup:

This poor Datsun 240/260 was at the same show, so maybe it's a Long Beach thing.

You can probably peg the exact model and year from the taillights and bumper db/sb.

Im in SO Cal ive seen a few of those, not on a HHR but on other cars yes. I guess its alll about personal taste. I cant say anything because I have a JDM style muffler at a angle on my HHR SS

Thanks. I do miss them sometimes but you can't keep them forever. Besides, I made enough from the sale of those three to buy my GTO and put a pretty good chunk of money in the bank.:twothumbs:

This was a short lived trend not to long ago in the mini-truckin world (i have a bagged S-10 "project") I see this pop up every so often on the S-10 forum. Guys would usually sticker bomb their bumpers or roll pan. Not my thing, but everyone has a different idea of what "cool" is...

I have only seen sticker bombing on vdubs and civics and 240sx's. Usually done on damaged body panels that you dont care about getting fixed/repainted. As far as I know its a trend that started with the drift scene as a cheap way to make busted body panels look better.
