No More Chrome!

Okay, so I bought my chromed out 2LT back at the beginning of march and decided almost immediately that the chrome had to go. I started small ditching the rims, then the mirror caps, grill, roof racks, beauty bar and now the door handles. I plastidipped them back at the end of may, but it didn't stick to the larger part of the handles. Decided since I got rid of my chrome lipped black wheels that it was time to do my handles permanently. Instead of removing them, I just taped it all up. I couldn't for life of me figure out how to take them off and I didn't want to take the risk of breaking one. Last thing left to paint is my front calipers...I'm going to save that for another weekend.

I'll update once I'm done and they are dry.

I'm going to tint coat my chrome. I don't like bright chrome, but I LOVE the look of gunmetal...

Well I ended up sanding, coat of primer, three coats of black semi-gloss and three coats of clear. One of my dogs decided to shed a hair when he walked by and messed up the rear drivers side. It was a total pain in the ass to strip it all off and start from scratch but it had to be done. I removed paper from the passenger side and it looks killer! I'll remove the drivers side tomorrow and get a couple of pics.

I taped all around the handle where I knew paint would touch and then I added the paper so I didn't have to worry about it bleeding through.

Good deal! The paper should be fine against overspray. Can't wait to see the final results.
