I did it differently as I'm a novice painter by all means,I bought duplicate parts
And just gave them to the body shop to custom paint them w/clear 8 pieces
Cost me $50 what a deal and my chrome is underneath.

Not sure if I'm off topic....the '06 LS came with "silver matte" finished doorhandles, deck lid and grille.
I was just wondering, if they were clear coated, it may be look you want.

Thanks guys! It looks even better in person. My rattle can skills are getting better and better...lol. The guy at the local Oriely's is a car enthusiast...he has a built civic...Im a regular there but today he told me it was the nicest HHR he'd ever scene. I'm telling you, the new wheels and all black look looks killer!
