Question Pet mods anyone?

Hey guys, I posted in the wrong area last time! I used to do road trips with my doberman, Remy. Then I had to downgrade cars BUT now I have a wonderful HHR that fits him with plenty of room. Back in the day, the Honda Element advertised a pet lover's package - almost bought one of those suckers myself.

Aside from the typical dog hammock and wire barrier, have you done any mods to accommodate your loving 4-legged friends? I'm thinking about doing some myself!

We have to use the cat carrier for Nacho, our kitty! so no mods required. But we only take him in the HHR to the vets once a year! He does get HHR sick!!

hmm i never needed to "pet proof" my car, i have a boxer and hes fine in the back, no modifications needed. I put his harness on and then clip it on to the tie downs on the flooring in the back and we're good to go :)

Aw, poor thing! My cat absolutely hates travel. He does better at night, but he still bellows. When I moved from VA to AL, I had to drive him back. All 15 hours of it. The dog usually sleeps. He fusses when he has to go potty, and that's it. Such good manners. I've thought about making the cargo area a big pet bed, but then if I'm driving he can't rest his head on my shoulder so I know he'll cry.

I've seen those inflatable mattresses to allow sleeping in the middle row.

So you guys have never dealt with projectile butt problems or vomiting? Those are the kinds of mods I need. His poor tummy is so sensitive. He usually has to fast for 12 hours prior to hauling..

We use one of those inflatable beds in the very back for our big lab-X, and it works well and doesn't take up too much room. It also works great at your travelling destinations.

Have you tried gravol to calm down the hound for travelling? Some have had great luck with it.

Tigger HATES even the short 5 minute ride to the vets, so, no trips for him, we get someone to come feed/check on him while we're on vacation. But, he still gets mad at us for leaving him. LOL

We have a friend who comes over to the house when we are on vacation to tend to Nacho and water the plants, so he doesn't mind us gone away!
Nacho is a rescue cat , abandoned by his owners who divorced and walked away from their house, he was in the house for 5 days before the Sherriff noticed he was in there when he went to post the foreclosure notice on the front door!

No pet specific mods for me. I just fold the seats flat and spread out an old blanket. I do have a cover I throw on the back of the front seats to protect from the occasional drool episode on long rides. My 4 year old Vizsla just goes to sleep most of the time. My 2 year old German Shorthaired Pointer LOVES to stand up with his head between the front seats, and stick his head out the window. After about an hour he begins to drool a bit though.
