Projector style headlights??
 

Does anyone make them? I know we have the Fall Edition "blackouts", or even the TYC Fall edition copies on Ebay. But does anyone know if there are any other options? I'd love to get a set of projector style headlights, especially if I wind up getting HID's...

Can someone tell me the difference between TYC lights, Hologens, HID's, and Projector style headlights???
I finally got my panel LT1, and am wanting to do some upgrades...
I like the type that 'orbitalrage' did.

The actual ebay ones do not look like fall edition, its just a general picture of some headlights they have. I emailed the seller before ordering my fall edition head lights, he said they are not black on the inside (was supposedly suppose to fix it, yeah right).

Not sure if your Head Light needs to be taken apart in order to install these and they are kinda pricey, but hey you asked for something:

Can someone tell me the difference between TYC lights, Hologens, HID's, and Projector style headlights???

NOTE: this isn't a pure, catch all explanation, but will touch on what your question is... those with more knowledge feel free to chime in:thumb:

TYC is simply an aftermarket company that manufactures headlight and tailight assemblies for most make/model vehicles. It's just a 'brand name'.

Halogen is a type of filament bulb very commonly used in most automotive + motorcycle headlight assemblies. They are filled w/ Halogen gas that, once ignited, cast a widespread beam pattern of yellowish light. These are your standard, everyday, run-of-the-mill type of lightbulb that we have in our vehicles and can buy everywhere. Though they come in many different shapes, types, and styles (example: 9006, 9007, 9008, H13, H11, H1, etc. etc.) they're all HALOGEN bulbs and work in the exact same way.

HID's are High Intensity Discharge lights. These are primarily found in 'higher end' vehicles like Audi's BMW's etc. Though the technology has trickled down to more common vehicles like Chryslers, some Fords, etc. The primary difference is that these lights emit a focused beam pattern that resembles true daylight (roughly around 3000K). These emit much more light (2-3 times more on average) than standard halogen bulbs and are therefore a better safety feature seeing that the driver can see more of the road, further down the road, and react better to any given situation that may arise in daily driving (i.e. deer, people, cars, etc). HID's work differently than halogen bulbs in that they are housed in a projector that's designed to reflect + focus the beam pattern vs. a standard housing that acts as a simple reflector for the halogen lights beam. The main benefit of an HID system is better vision, though the aftermarket has come up with HID bulbs that can be used in a standard halogen headlight assembly some are offering HID's in ranges that are more for "show" purposes than safety. For example you can buy an HID kit that has an H13 bulb that fits in our regular headlight assembly in any given output range from 3000K or 4300K (emits the most usable light) to ridiculously high ranges like 10000K (look awesome + emit a pinkish, purpleish light, but not very useable IMO).

Projector style headlight assemblies are the type where you see smaller, round "portholes" (for lack of a better descriptive word) that oftentimes separate the high and low beams on a vehicle instead of one large headlight assembly that houses one bulb that does double duty for both low and high beams like our headlights in our HHR's; Think of the Mazda 3 or Mazda 6 headlights or BMW E46 style headlights and you'll know or get the idea of what a projector headlight assembly is. The main purpose of a projector style headlight assembly is to focus the beam pattern in cars that still use OEM halogen bulbs. You get a little better visibility as a benefit, but it's still light years away from a true HID setup.

Standard houseing. Made for halogen bulbs. Installing HID can blind oncoming traffice, light can scattered instead of focused like a projector lens. Just so you know, it's also illegial to install a HID bulb in a non-HID housing. Some area's can be pretty picky about lights.
