Running boards soon to be a factory install.
Chevy is changing from a dealer installed option to factory production installation. I hear Chevy is having tons of repaint claims from drivers in snow areas where sand is used from HHR owners who don't have running boards. The back fenders get sandblasted. I suspect they are going to ship all cars to snowy areas with the boards already installed.

Yup. In Ontario, Canada where I live I have seen two 2007's on the lot and both had running boards. One of my local dealers also sent me a data sheet and quote on the 2007 and running boards are listed as 'standard equipment'.
The MSRP of the car only went up about $350 which is alot better than the $750 price tag the running boards have in Canada!!! Bob |
i just saw a 2007 model here in okc at a local dealer, and it didnt have running boards...

Sask. Canada here and I had about 1 and 1/2 feet of sandblast on the rear fenders. Got the boards and paint with warrenty.

Excellent news from up north. Sounds like they will just stick em on everything in snow country and lower the price. I watched a dealer try to get a pair on, and it is not as simple of an operation as you might expect.

Just a FYI: All HHR's are shipped with the running boards inside the vehicle and installed at the dealer during prep. This is to prevent any damage to them while loading/unloading from the transport.

On a yahoo HHR group someone posted that their dealer could not order a 2007 2LT with both spoiler and running boards.
Anyone else hear anything like this? Dealer told her it was one or the other. She chose the running boards. |
I trust you told her about ChevyHHR.net!
