what is Plasti-dip? - check this out

A minimal set of colors of Plastidip is available at The Home Depot - for about $5.95 - vrs ~$18 in Canada.

It's great for doing rims, grills, lettering, emblems etc. -

Thanks Whopper Didn't realize not everyone knows what Plasti-Dip was. I love using the stuff, so many applications with limitless possibilities. This is just one way of changing up the look of your ride with the use of Plasti-Dip, and a rather extreme change at that. I appreciate everyone's input, and understand not everyone is gonna like it, but that's what makes it unique to your tastes, and further pushes the envelope of creative customization

Yeah, Modern Masters has some awesome paint with real copper (& other metals) that will tarnish naturally with the elements...pretty sick, but also much more permanent. I like how easy it is to remove plasti-dip when the look gets old or boring. I saw Plasti-Dip added a copper metalizer to their arsenal several weeks back. I think I will try some of that with mine. There really are a gang of possibilities and variations that could be created with all the colors, metalizers, and pearlizer options...thankfully, as temporary as one wants them to be. I'm curious what white, or red might look like with this rust process.

What type of iron filings did you use? I ordered a 1lb. bag of cast iron powder since it is said to rust up easier than others. I'll post results once I have a chance to experiment and try my hand.

Yeah, that should work. I ordered a pound of dry / oil free iron filings off eBay. They weren't quite as fine as I needed, so I ran em through a coffee grinder, turned em to a powder.

Nah Pyro, it's all good. Any new technique is helpful. I've already began peeling the dip off the wheel tho, this was just a test run. I blew out the inner sidewall and bent the rim, so I figured I'd kick around a few ideas while the 20"s were off. Once I get it fixed I'll re-dip all 4, currently rollin on 16"s tho
