Question Shaved door handles?

Has anyone done it yet? I've seen the red and white Bonneville looking dragster with no handles, but has anyone actually done a street car? The bad thing is that I bought the extended 6 year paint/interior warranty and I know it would void it if I shave the handles but that is what the boss wants.

Pictures? Opinions? Reviews?

Opinion: it's going to be very hard to do. GM uses a very thin sheet steel on the HHR doors (I already have 4 light door dings in mine), that is going to be a bear to weld on. Still, when my full body paint job happens, I'll be trying it (with poppers), along with a shaved front antenna, rear wiper, and rear washer. I also have plans to add a frenched-in electric antenna in the driver's side rear quarter panel.

Beat me to it and you can give me all the scoop!

Well, I'll be able to tell you how much it cost me anyway! haha... I don't weld... Yet! Like you, Rie wants the door handles, rear wiper/washer gone. She hasn't mentioned the antenna yet but I hate that thing sticking up there. I am going to order your stubby antenna for the time being. I like the idea of an electric antenna though.

I didn't find out you are in Murrieta until too late. We bought her HHR in Temecula while down in Hemet visiting my in-laws. We're back up in Bakersfield now but I am definitely coming to visit the next time we are down that way.

You can shave your doors just get a really good body man that has done custom work. If you look at the darkside blue and black hhr they have the doors shaved. The hardest part is going to be to keep the door handles on the inside still usable and I would also do the 35 lb poppers. My s-10 is fully shaved also. let me know if you need a kit promotiontuning 1-877-724-6682

thanks phillip

Yeah, ahem, I talked with Erich at darkside about it at length in person. He told me he wouldn't do that again if someone offered him 10 grand.
The door metal is very thin and it caused him a lot of grief. That's where my post came from...

Thanks Phillip. I remember seeing that one now. I also liked the rear suicide doors but my pockets aren't that deep yet.

Do you have a website? I need a set for my 34 Ford coupe too.
