Two Tone Painting

Little help here.... been considering a two tone paint job for my DSM HHR. Was told today that my idea:

may not be the cheapest way to go because it is more important to paint the top then it would be to paint the bottom.

Anyone hear anything similar or go through the same thing?

Thanks,

Do you mean harder or more expensive to paint the top? I think the whole paintjob would rank as "important", so I'm not sure exactly what you mean. As far as it costing more to paint the top than the bottom, no I haven't heard that. If I two-tone mine, I will paint the top a different color because I think it loks better in the door jambs that way, unless you also two-tone the jambs..

Sorry Bob,

I was talking expense and now that I think about it, probably quality issues with one versus the other. I had the white over gray in mind but after I started messing with bottom colors I found a combo I like better. I was just wondering if anyone had had any cost, quality, etc... issues with a two tone job.

Thanks

a good rule of thumb when doing a two tone is that you always put the dark color on the top. It plays a trick on your eyes and makes the roof look lower, and if you put light on the top it looks really high. Thats why ceilings are always painted white, it makes the room look bigger.
