Wheel Adapters
Anyone have experience with them. I like a few types of wheels that won't fit the 5x110. I would make sure that the fit was proper, the adapters of high quality and all that jazz of course.
Thanks |
Although wheel adapters are generally not recommended, that's not to say the ones you're looking at are not safe. Just be real careful there.
Pay very close attention to the end result offset, IOW the actual wheel offset combined with what the adapter may add. There's not much room to play with on the HHR. |
I think a 1/2" adapter is pretty safe and that is all you need to change the bolt pattern. The offset on my wheels sets them out half an inch and they work fine so I don't think that would be a problem. I did know a guy in Florida that made some super strong wheel adapters that we used on kit cars. Some guys were running a 3" spacer! That is just ridiculous.
Edit: Looks like 1" is about the smallest you can get from just my quick eBay search. |
Songman, I like your full moons but have never seen any around here that did not grow dents VERY quickly.......... How do you mount yours?
|
Thanks guys, I think I'm going to stay with the 5X110 because the offset will be too large.

Song, Have you considered upsizing your tires? I know this thread is about adapters but I am wondering what size tires will be tried if adapters work.
|
I'm already running 18x8.5 wheels with 225/40s.
|
That size is actually smaller in diameter than the stock tires. I need details on the guy supposedly running 27" diameter tires on 20" wheels on a stock HHR that I read somewhere here in this forum. It is getting frustrating that I want to increase tire diameter, think there is room to do so and cannot get anyone to confirm with details from experience..........

If you have to add adapters or spacers to make them work, they are wrong and unsafe. Here in Texas adapters and spacers are no legal for hwy use.
