SPPD
Do those same "laws" apply to celebrities? I guess not because they most all have tint on there cars. Its not what you know, its who you know.

I will reply to you smart answer. First of all, if YOU were a POLICE OFFICER...you would like to know exactly what you are approaching when making a motor vehicle stop. Several officers have been SHOT because of this. (not knowing the driver had a gun in his hand and evidently was intent on killing a police officer if pulled over). As to the prescription for tint ( there are prescripition sungasses for those drivers (remember Jim McMahon from the Chicago Bears?)
To the other poster...I am done discussing this forum...It seems you evidently don't like police officers??? There are exceptions made for limos, as to the "Hollywood stars that "ALL HAVE THEM??? I doubt that staement very much so!!!

if police are worried about the driver having a gun, why not the rear passenger window too? they can be darker and as far as a gun goes, just as dangerous. I agree that it can be a safety precaution, but only for night driving visibility.

I don't have to be a police officer, my father in law retired from the Alabama State and Game commission as a Capt (1 of only 2 in the state at the time). I know exactly what law enforcement officers have to go through, I lived through some of it throughout the years. I have heard stories from his buddies in the various law enforcement fields.
I wasn't be a smart , 3 different times I have been pulled over for tint (my tint is 30%, legal is 35%, neither are very dark) by a police officer to check me out (state highway patrol), I was not speeding nor received any violation but a warning for tint. After the officers came to the car and realized I was a older fellow, not a thug or young punk they pretty much let me go with a tint warning. One time my wife got pulled over for 1 tag bulb being out so the cop could check out a vehicle, then let her go with a "you need to replace the bulb". Now I don't know what kind of police officer you were, but I will tell you this, there are actual police officers doing there job right and others with some kind of "super" cop chip on there shoulder. I've only ever had to file harassment against 2 different city police officers in my entire life, the majority are good people, but there are bad apples. If I know I've been speeding or doing something I wasn't suppose to I will concede and pay the fine, but you best believe if I know I'm in the right, its court/lawyer time. By the way I haven't had any kind of ticket in 10 years, only pulled over for tint. This is all I'm gonna say about the subject.

as far as the prescription tint goes it can be done in certain states. But only the person w/ the prescription can drive the car. So if your wife or kids want to drive that vehicle they better get the same prescription

Every State has different laws on Tint. Also some area's have Law's on Tint but most officer's either don't care of have more important things to do. Its 100% illegal for the front window's to be tinted in IL. I have had 4 Vehicle's all with the from Window's tinted at 35%. I have never (knock on wood) been pulled over for Window tint. I went 35% due to the fact you can still see in the car etc. I Also don't buy the "Cops Don't like it cause they can't see" Obviously if your getting pulled over. You should have your Driver's Window down anyway. You obviously have to give him ur ID and Insurance Card. It's not like your going to talk through glass. It's more

As for as the Gun Comment, you don't even have to be in a car to have to worry about getting shot at. That's everybody any time any place.

you can have tint on the front side windows in illinois if you have a medical condition and buy the wt license plates.the wt let the police know you are legeal to have the windows tinted.i got sunburned on a sunday a few years back and it turned into shingles on the side of my face that got burned.it was the left side.i missed 6 weeks of work ,had to stay in a dark room the whole time with dark towels over the curtains and could not watch tv or get on the computer because it makes your eyes very light senstive.i have not been hassled since getting the plate.a cop told me how to get it to save me from being pulled over.it is also legal for anyone to drive the car as far as i know.
