Wood Grain for Package area
 

Am I the only one who wants to do woodgrain stuff for the back storage area? I'd like to see somebody do a kit for the side panels. I'm in the process of figuring out how to do the fold down seats with 1/8 in Birch Plywood and some Oak runners. A nice wood grain on the sides, at least like on the sills next to windows I think "wood" :cool: be cool.

It's similar to what I'm gonna try. I'm planning on using some red oak for runners instead of chrome strips. I'll bolt or screw through the oak in a few places with countersunk heads to anchor the assembly to the plastic flip-base, so I can use it as a shelf as well. I figure if I keep the runners at less than 1/2 inch thick, I can just attach some padding to the rear carpet mat and it will still cover the wood when I'm gonna use it for hauling groceries, suitcases whatever....

The angle of the seatbacks ought to keep anything from rubbing and scuffing too bad on the wood I mount to the back of them.

I'm thinking of making a full mat for my panel out of wood patterned vinyl flooring and run some sign vinyl chrome strips. Keeping it flexible enough to roll up/ This would allow me to easily remove it to get to the storage bins.

I went the easy way of a rubber mat that can be rolled up out of the way.
Has more grip so cargo won't slide around.

You would not believe how nasty used big truck brake parts can be.

I have a dark grey indoor outdoor carpet that I cut out that fits nicely right now. But want the illusion of the old wood floor of the 40s and 50s trucks and panels.

I went with Weathertech cargo area protectors, they keep things nice and neat, stuff doesn't slide on them...and they also provide a bit of sound insulation too.

1940's style wood with batten strips looks great, as long as you never use your trucklet to carry anything.
