nice! i like the 8s in the rear doors. i thought about putting either some mids or subs in the rear doors, but with my planned setup, itll be pointless. lol

plan is going to be a wall in the cargo area, tuned to like 29-31hz port on top (above rear seats) and either 6x 10" sundown SA10s or 8x 8" sundown SA-8's. power will be 1 crescendo 3k, and a matching crescendo 1000c4 4ch amp for the 16 mids/highs (2 8s, 2 horns, 2 bullet tweets per front door, and 6x 6.5's and 4 bullet tweets in the wall firing at me from behind.

thats why i kinda dropped the idea of the rear doors, one becuase you wont really hear it, and 2, i wont have any amp left, the 4ch will be wired to 2 ohms on all 4 channels, so i cant really add anything..i can, but i dont wanna make it run hot. theres a guy on my other forum running one at 1 ohm per channel and it runs hottttttttttt but never shuts off! lol

What if you designed a push/pull fan setup?? A series of 4" or 5" fans may work to keep the amp cool IMO.

that will work, but still will be wiring the amp to a load lower than its rated to go, and itll void the warranty. the 3k is warrantied even when wired at .5ohm, even though its only rated as 1 ohm stable.

Thanks man... The 8's were an afterthought. I just didn't like the muddy midbass that 6.5's provided. I started out all Kicker, but got robbed, so everything is getting built bigger and better. Eventually I'm going to do horns under both sides of the dash, Vifa Tweets, and Peerless 6.5's in the fronts. I'm hoping to put subs in soon... 2 DC LVL4 18's, but first I gotta bulk up this wimpy charging system, and put some real batteries in this thing. For amps I plan on running Crecendo's as well, 2 3k's, and 2 1000c4's... If I can find a rep in my area...

Edit: I think I may just go Crescendo for mids/highs... I just saw the prices...

the crescendo comps ive heard are great for the price. im just a pro audio guy, so i like running PA mids like eminence, selenium, bullet tweeters, etc. with tuning i can make them sound pretty good and 10x louder than most any car audio speaker haha

contact Navid, he will ship directly to you..i think theyre out of 3ks, hes making a new 3k, the last old 3k he has he's holding for me, i live like 30 min from him.

you gonna lose the back seats for ur subs? i didnt think there was enough room in the cargo for 2 18s, but if there is, that will be nasty. i cant wait to get my wall in. im getting my Damplifier pro today, need to pull the headliner this weekend and deaden the center area of the roof...nasty rattle even with 2 10s on 300w.. haha

Really? I'm piecing together a system that will be using 2 12" Alpine Type-R's at roughly 500W for subs alone. Nothing fancy like yours, they'll be in some type of plain-jane prefab box. I've been out of the stereo game for a while and really have no clue as to what speakers are good for the front+rear doors. I was looking at JL's, Polk Audio, or my old fav, Boston Acoustics... any pointers for me? I'm an r+b, hip hop, spanish music etc. type guy though I've got a decent collection of metal too. (sorry for the thread jack!)

I'm not really sure what I want to do with my mids/highs yet. I want to get out of the mainstream for sure. I'm thinking PA mids, but I know I want to put a set of horns in, and maybe some supertweets.

Within the next month, I should have the electrical beefed up, I won't be ready to install any beat until at least after xmas. I will be calling them direct though, as I will be ordering a sh*tload of stuff.

I'm going to cut out/remove the cargo area interior panels from the window line down, and going into the spare tire well for the box. Hopefully everything fits. If not, I'm going to go with 15's. I'm trying to keep it daily driveable. I really wanna keep 4 seats in the car, but that may change. I don't really have a plan, other than trying for 150+.

its cool, its still on topic of car audio so who cares haha

type R's are great budget subs. that would be perfect, or you can even look into some Sundown Audio SA-8, SA-10, 12, or 15s. those would sound better IMO than the type r's, even though the type r's wont sound bad.

i dont advise using a prefab box though. get one built, if you know how to build and cant design, there is plenty of people on the car audio forums that will design you a box and send you the dimensions for like 5 to 10 bux. the box is alot of the install. my friends friend has a 13" W7 on 1k watts...in a crappy box im assuming (or a prefab most likely)...i never heard it, but my friend heard it. i had 2 entry level (about 30 dollars each new) Powerbass 10" subs...decided to throw them in my HHR for some temporary bass for now...threw them in a box i built, and (the vids are a page back in this thread) they got louder and soudned better than the w7, and i had only 150w per sub.......

so alot of the install is in the box to say the least. :)

for the mids/highs, really any of those will work, theyre all good. i had some boston components a few yrs back, loved them, just werent loud enough for me (i only use Pro Audio mids/bullet tweeters now lol)

try out these.. read reviews on them, great set of components, for a great price. im gonna grab 2 sets for my dads 81 vette whenever i have some extra money. you can mount the tweets in the center of the 6.5", or mount them seperate, which is good for the rear doors so you dont have to drill a hole for the tweeters.

my plans changed alot since i bought the car 4 months ago LOL...i said i wasnt going to change anything audio wise...

then i added a head unit. then i was gonna just replace stock speakers, then i built fiberglass pods..then i was only gonna do like 2 8's sealed in the wheel well, then i said 2 12s, now im gonna wall it (which i really said i wasnt going to do)

but im not gonna foam or fiberglass or screw/staple anything to the stock panels in the back, that way if i wanna take it out or something, i can put it back to stock. the interior of my 04 mini cooper will NEVER be able to go back to stock. the headliner is cut out, theres a wall behind the front seats for 2 18s, fiberglassed trim panels to the B pillars all the way down, cut the doors up for speakers etc... lol

but thats not a daily (it was until i bought the hhr)

id go for the PA mids/horns though in your car. are you talking PA horns, or something like those ID car audio horns that mount under the dash?

i have these in my doors:

http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=264-204

which are screwed into the back of these:

http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=290-500

with these for tweets:

http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...TOKEN=16725998

ill have a total of 6 of those ST200 bullets, the 2 selenium horns up front, and a total of 8 mids (the 2 8's up front, and the other 6 will be in the wall's trim panel behind me. not sure if im gonna run 6s 8s, or 10s in the wall. might mix it up, whatever i have room to fit)

im aiming for a 150+ as well on music, and i dont think itll be too hard after seeing how loud those 2 10s and 300w got lol.

this weekend im pulling the headliner out again and installing some second skin damp pro. ill take pics of it as well.
