2 12's build
Ive thought about putting an 8" in the stock location since it seems there is some room left with the stock 6.5". Do you know if its possible to keep one hidden behind the interior panel without trimming metal?
in the front or the back?
ill look again today when i go to fiberglass the panels. im not sure, unless its a shallow mount 8.
you wanting to do 8" mids or like 8" subs out back for added bass?
my front doors will have 10's in the stock location.

10s ? ouch hope you got earplugs. j/k
I have 3ways in front, good midrange and highs, but little bass. So Im thinking of adding midbass in the rear doors, I think they allow slightly more depth than the fronts. If I cant fit 8" then I will find some decent 6.5s, maybe morel tempos. If I do the head unit I will get one with time alignment to help even out the sound from front to rear.
However Im looking to keep the stock interior, no building of pods. If I build up some 1/2" adapter rings then I might be able to taper the opening to allow for an 8".
Since you have some 8s on hand, would you be able to stick one of them in the rear door as deep as possible and take a pic? If the flange of the speaker is more than 1/2" from the metal, Im guessing they wont fit. If you cant, no worries.

no ill deff do that for you. i know for a fact that it wont hit the window, becuase the window isnt near the stock speaker cutout when rolled all the way down.
it should fit though. the 8's i have, the magnets are actually like 7" in diameter, so that itself might not fit through the door, but ill measure depth for you.
these i think would be badass! ive always wanted to try these out. one day ill buy one or two just to mess around with.

or these

and since you cant build a pod in the door so to speak, i'd suggest at least going with these, should improve the sound a little, and also itll keep the water off your speakers. ive got them for all my speakers, ill post pics with them installed when i get around to it. im even going to buy some of the 3 or 4" ones to protect water from hitting my tweeters haha.
i think i also read somewhere that a guy fiberglassed or put something around the outside of it to harden it up, that'd prally help out on bass response if i had to guess, but for me, my mids are only going to be playing from 80hz-2500hz, so nothing to low from my doors.

front doors will have these near the stock location:

with these screwed to the back of it

with these for tweets

the mids will play from 80hz-2500hz, the tweets from 2500hz+, those horns im guessing ill cross them from 400hz-whatever sounds good, maybe 2500 like the mids, maybe ill let them play higher to like 4 or 5khz, who knows.
overall though, the hhr will have 8 of those horns, 12 of those tweeters, and 18+ mids (6's, 8's, and 10's)
subs will probably be like 6 10" subs in a wall behind the back seats, with 3k watts.
