2 way or 3 way

I was wondering for the door speakers. Since there's already tweeters in the pillars, would a 3 way in the door throw it off and make to much high end? Thanks for any advice.

I think you'd find that the sound would be a bit too "bright" with a surplus of tweeters, but that's just my humble opinion. I'm sure the folks with the gazillion watt systems will chime in with advice on this.

I would sugest you try with a component set (Tweteer, crossover & Mid bass). Factory tweeters are a little crappy...

I have 3way in the doors, I just disconnected the pillar tweeters. They get rough at high volume.
Also its better to have tweeters near the mids for correct imaging.

Thanks for the replies. How do you go about unhooking the pillars?

Its pretty easy, just take the pillar top torx screw out, then pull the bottom up and out. You should be able to unplug the wire then.

I love 3-ways when properly setup.

correct but your staging needs to be at ear level which is why people started putting tweeters in the pillars. with good staging you can overcome the tweeter driver separation
