One other question I have is about the Steering Wheel Controls.

I believe on the HHR the steering wheel controls are done via resistance changes to the stereo? Is this correct?

There is a company that makes a product Joycon Ex Steering Wheel Interface to USB.

http://www.mo-co-so.com/Joycon-EX-St...mcs-joy-ex.htm

It measures the resistance output when a button is pushed and translates it to something that the computer can read.

Thanks,

Roger

they make an infrared module that connects to the steering wheel controls (bestbuy.com PAC steering wheel interface). then on your carputer you can connect a usbuirt.com unit for a receiver.

this really isn't the place for experienced people, to be asking for help on carputers. other sites have way more advanced users.

Stephenm,

Thanks for that piece of info about bestbuy. I did indeed find a piece called Joycon Ex, that will take the original Steering wheel signal and convert it a usb signal that can be used. Via a wire from the original radio harness. It does use Resistance differences as signals that the up volume was pushed and a different resistance for the down volumn etc.

I will also be able to do the same for the acceleration to raise the volumn and lower it as well.

As for forumns, yes. I belong to a few carputer forumns, but since this was an HHR forumn, I thought asking specifically about HHR this would be the place.

Thanks,
