Added stock subwoofer and amp to LS Panel

Hello,
I finished adding a stock amp and subwoofer to the OEM radio sys.

Let me start off by saying I am a complete amature at car stereos and have never done anything like this before.

2nd. I only added the Subwoofer to the stock 6 speaker system. I did not amplify the stock 6 speaker.

3rd. I did not want to cut any of my wires. So I bought a Add-an-amp converted form PAC audio AOEM-GM1416A. It has gain adjustment and a power-on switch wire to run to the amp.

To add the the subwoofer to my system I only had to use 5 wires off the stock amp.
1. (RED)The power wire to the battery with 20amp fuse.
2. (BLACK) ground to body.
3. (PINK) amp power switch on connects to PAC blue wire.
4. (DRK BROWN/ DRK BROWN WHITE) + - LR Speaker gose to PAC channel connected to the radio.

So basically I tapped off my left rear speaker signal to drive the subwoofer threw the stock amp.

Testing phase.

Great post...thanks. Question: where did you get the stock amp and subwoofer? I have a '11 LS without the Pioneer system and have wanted to add the sub just for a little more thump. Thinking about upgrading the factory head unit but don't really want to modify the back of my vehicle.

Place a "Want" ad here in the Classifieds section, folks starting "mondo sound systems" usually either junk or sell the OEM stuff.

I have seen them on e-Bay from time to time too.

Was there an improvement in sound with this mod? I have the pioneer premium with factory sub and couldn't hear the sub at all. The door speakers had more bass than the sub. Even messing around in the back of it with the stereo playing you could hear the door speakers were louder at bass. The only notion that it was there was you could put your hand over it and feel that it was working.
It's not hooked up, I got a different sub. Was wondering if I should put the factory one in my mom's LS with non-premium set up.

Hello,
Yes there is an improvement in sound as Im using the amp watts to drive the sub only.
When I first got it running the gain was turned all the way up on the PAC interface and the sub was BOOM! BOOM! Totally drowning out my 2 front mid bass speakers. I could feel massive air pressure being moved. Too much infact I had to turn down the gain.
Im proly gonna add a PAC Level control/gain knob to control how much I want it to kick because each song is differnt. BTW I upgraded the radio to USB which has a wider range than the LS radio.

I will install it in hers since it's just added weight in mine. I'm not using any of the factory stereo so the amp can just be on the sub for hers. I think I have an extra RCA line control to boot so it should be painless.
Thanks for the info.

Cool. But I can't see that stock 8" sub pushing mass amounts of air, lol. Maybe you are just not used to a sub at all.

I would put an amp on those tweeters and front mids. They sound 10x clearer and louder.

I got her sub installed over the weekend. It did make a huge difference to the non premium setup. It had to be turned down a bit to blend it in, easily overpowers the output of the stock speakers.

Hhrumadbruh, I am, have a SSA 18" in mine on a sundown 2500D.
