My car has Onstar which i don't use and never plan on using also it has NO buttons on the steering wheel... Iv done some research and keep coming across come "interface device" do i need this part. I have oned many car and its normally just a cheap plug adapter and wham bam you're done.... Does the HHR have screwy wiring that im gunna have to dick around with? or should i be ok just getting the little wire adapter like every other car....

A. the radio is connected to the BCM Via the Serial data lines to produce the chimes. Need an adapter.
B. the factory harness does not provide a switched circuit, That also comes from the serial data line.
C. there are lots of examples on this forum of folks that "have installed radios in other cars" that have botched the job .
D. do you have the factory amp and sub woofer?

Sounds risky... Installing a brand new stereo in a car that you can't lock the doors.

If you don't know, if you have a sub etc., you probably would be best to just take your HHR to a shop and have them install the new stereo.

You can look at the drivers side rear interior panel , if it says Pioneer chances are you have the seven speaker upgraded system or look at the RPO sticker on the inside of the glove box door.
Then again a PO might have changed that panel for some reason.
Another way to determine, take the oblong access door off and look inside the amp will be in there

I would go to crutchfield.com and type in your vehicles info. They will show you the wire harness and chime box you will need for aftermarket hookup.

Then take the part numbers and shop on eBay/Amazon for a better price. The circuit boards are "cheap Chinese generic".
