aftermarket stereo no sound and car wont crank
 

i have a 2009 hhr that i tried to put an aftermarket stereo in because the factory stereo gave out.
the problem im having is i bought an aftermarket stereo wiring harness the stereo turns on but no sound comes out even though the amp is working.
the other problem is the car wont crank. as soon as i put the factory stereo it cranks over
any help would be greatly appreciated

does anyone have any idea as to why my hhr wont crank over when the factory stereo is unplugged?

The cars security alarm thinks someone has stolen your radio. Shuts down the starting system I guess ?

Possibly the wrong wiring interface.

Not a HHR problem. Evidently, you did something wrong, like hooking the power up wrong.
What did you use for switched power? Did you get a GMLAN adapter or just a wiring harness?

How do you know the radio was bad? No sound almost always means the the crappy OEM speakers are all blown.

In any event, try putting the original radio back an see if the car will start. If so, check the speakers. You probably need new ones anyway, new radio or not.

1st post says he put the original radio back in and it cranks.
