It may be the same model radio but the anti theft feature requires that a Tech II scan tool be used to program it to your VIN number.
My local dealership programmed the replacement radio in Oldblue when the OEM radio went completely blank.
Does it matter if the OEM went out or not? The only thing that happened to mine was there was no more sound coming from the speakers, for anything, music, turning signals, etc

Did you rule out bad speakers? Very common problem with the base 6 speaker system. The door speakers fail from corrosion

Jan 27! No I didn't. My mech told me to just get the car stereo, any way, since then my battery has died. Completely died. I went to use my key fob to open the doors, didn't work, went to drivers side unlocked manually, put key in and turned it. And nothing happened. No noises no lights NOTHING and I can't get my key out of ignition!
So now I'm asking does anyone no if it's just the battery for sure?😊🥺
Thanks guys!
Read your Owners Manual. There is a description (with picture) on how to remove the ignition key when the battery is dead.
Don't have a manual ? They are available for download on this site. Donbrew even has a link to Owners Manuals in his signature.
Column Lock Release For vehicles with an automatic transmission,
the following procedure allows the ignition to be turned to LOCK/OFF and ignition key to be removed in case of a dead battery or low voltage battery.
1. Make sure the shift lever is in P (Park).
2. Remove the cover from the bottom of the steering column. Locate the plunger.
4. Press and hold the plunger while turning the ignition key to LOCK/OFF. Remove the key. Have the vehicle serviced at your dealer/retailer as soon as possible.
