can anyone suggest an amp that is better than the stock one? i want to keep the stock woofer but dont want to blow it, cuz im sure the woofer can take a bit more power than the stock amp gives out

I have been considering this myself. I am looking at something like this, http://www.crutchfield.com/p_206PX2K....html?tp=35834

Should add just enough to make the stock sub a little louder and I am thinking it will fit nicely down by the battery.

I know a small amp that has plenty of real power and also have a very good price . You can pick them up on Ebay from the manufacturer . It is Phoenix Golds repair and service center , so they come with a warranty . It will smoke that little amp from crutchfield ..... It is 125.00 dollars US . Leave the factory amp to power your other speakers .....
I had one , and now have another one along with its big brother . For the dollar per watt value , this little amp is hard to pass up .

I could be wrong and someone please correct me if I am. The factory sub has dual 2 ohm voice coils resulting in a 1 ohm mono load. That PG amp msbecky listed showed a 2 ohm minimum running bridged which would be no good for stock sub.

ya its a dual..but becky said to run it along with the stock amp..
dont have the stock amp anyway so that wouldnt work..just need to find a decent mono

You should be able to run the stock sub at 4ohm by wiring the voice coils in series, then any amp should handle it. Theres a couple kenwood amps on the ont cobalt forum for $40.

Gotcha, I was under the impression you had the full pioneer system and wanted to disconnect the factory sub and use an amp with a little more power just for the sub and keep the factory amp for the doors still.

Carry on.

im always so weary on buying used amps..never know what they've been through or if they will cut out the next day

Also, just about any major brand amp will most likely be better than the stock amp as far as driving a subwoofer.
