broken aux jack
broken aux jack
I have a problem with my aux jack. Apparently, the wire I had plugged in there broke off...so there's a small piece still inside. I need to know how to remove the little piece that's still stuck inside. The problem is preventing me from using the aux jack with my XM radio. Ugh...
Anyone know how to fix this?

It's not a piece of copper wire that's stuck; it's a piece of the plug that goes into the aux jack. Think of a set of headphones and the plug on the headphones that goes into the jack on an IPOD. The tip of that plug is what's stuck in there.

Notice the two different tips on the wire? The tip on the left was in the XM radio setup. The tip on the right was in the aux jack on the radio in my car.
Why do I get the feeling I'm screwed on this one?

I'm afraid your safest bet would be to remove the radio and open it up. Trying to stick anything into the jack to try to remove it from the front may cause it to go in farther and damage the jack. At that point your only choice would be to replace the jack, if you can find an exact match (circuit board mounts come in a lot of differant types) or replace the radio.
id say if ur under bumper to bumper still take it to the dealer and tell them the jack does not work. but that would be dishonest. not like dealers are very honest to begin with. there are the nice ones tho too.
