Can you use factory/onstar mic for aftermarket unit?
So I installed a Pioneer 7" dvd/nav/bluetooth/xm in my 1LT, and I'm looking to do the same with my SS.
With the GMOS-LAN-04 (SS has the Pioneer upgraded system) would I be able to use the factory microphone for bluetooth, or would I need to add an additional mic? I had no luck using the search bar... |
So far as I know the factory BT unit lives right next to the factory OnStar unit. Maybe they are the same unit, not sure. Basically saying "I doubt it". BUT, the mic has wires!

I put a Pioneer unit in my 2007 LT2 and the LAN adapter plus control/onstar adapter lets the steering wheel controls and the On-Star controls both work as original. I don't have the model numbers of the adapters handy but the shop in Imperial Beach CA I bought them at is 1-619-628-2400 and they could tell you what would work.

The built in mic has wires that can be rerouted? Or, do you want to use the GM OnStar/Bluetooth?

I actually kept searching and found people saying it's easier (and better) to just mount the mic that comes with the aftermarket head unit. |
