Coaxial speakers vs. component Speakers.

whats the biggest advantages from standard Coaxial speakers compared to component speaker systems. Yes component speaker systems would cost a bit more. and should make the sound spread and more clear better.

Any Knowledgeable input and know how is appreciated.

Component speakers have better separation and raise the sound stage so all your highs will be coming from closer to ear level than from below you.

So, would a decent set-up be to use components for the front doors and pillar with the tweets and use coaxial for the rear doors?

Yes.

Rear seat passengers don't really need good audio. You want your sound stage to come from the front :).

You would need and amp to really get the sound out of them. The head unit does not provide nearly enough. But it is the way to go if you can.

If you want max power from the factory amp, a set of Infinity Kappa 60.9cs components are probably your best bet since they're 2 ohm.

You dont necessarily need an amp for components. It all depends on the power rating of the components. As far as the sound goes, the components will give you tunability of the soundstage. The coaxials are at a fixed location whereas the comps you are able to move the tweeter around. Companies also generally speaking use better parts in components than coaxials.

If anyone has upgraded speakers but kept the stock head unit, I was wondering how much better they are than the stock Pioneers (premium sound system)?

I'll tell ya when I get around to install the Kappa 60.9cs' I picked up.

As soon as I got my HHR in 06, I switched all 4 door speakers. Much improvement. Down the road, I changed the head and used the internal amp plus a separate one for the new sub. Eventually I got all new door speakers-Polk-and used component for the front, co ax for the rear. I put the tweeter in the pillar. I tried it in different places, and the pillar gives the best sound stage. For wiring, I did it the easiest way possible. I have the amps in the back, so I ran the wires to the factory amp and spliced into the factory speaker wires. I put the 2 crossovers in the compartment by the drivers rear tail lights. The only new wires I had to run are for the new tweeters. The reason for all this was to avoid new wires to the doors, which is a pain in the a$$.
