Door Chime Sounds!

Hey, anyone know how to shutoff or at least cut down the door chime sounds? Whenever I'm detailing and I've got my doors open with the key in accessory mode, the door chimes overpower the music on the driver door speaker. I read in my manual where it said to have the radio off with the car running and just push the number on your favorite radion station but I haven't been able to do so. Am I missing something?

Thanks

The way I do it, if I remember right, is: have all doors closed, key out; open passenger door, put key in, turn on radio. You should now also be able to open driver's door without chimes going off.

You probably have the late model radio that can't adjust the chime volume.

I have been told my my dealership (and GM) that I have The US8 Radio which does not have the option to turn down the chimes. Is there anything at all I can do? I don't have the funds nor the hands on know how to put another radio in.

Thanks

yeah I want to know how to eliminate the ding sound when I get out of the car. Any help anyone? I have a 2006 LT. It is the most annoying thing. I tried doing the thing in post 2 with the doors but that didn't work...

PS I know I'm bring a post back to life from dinosaur ages. Thanks

Chime Level Adjustment:
The radio is used to adjust the vehicle's chime level. To change the volume level of the chime, press and hold push-button 6 with the ignition on and the radio power off.

The volume level will change from the normal level to loud, and LOUD will appear on the radio display. To change back to the default or normal setting, press and hold push-button 6 again. The volume level will change from the loud level to normal, and NORMAL will appear on the radio display.

Notice: Each time the chime volume is changed, three chimes will sound to indicate the new volume selected.

If you turn the key two clicks, (passed accessory to where the lights light, then just the engine light stays lit), the chimes stop after about 5 seconds. That is how my '06 works. Just keep an eye on the battery if you do that for a lengthy period of time. Hope that Helps!

By the way, the #6 button works to change the volume on mine, but No Matter the volume, it is STILL ANNOYING!!! Mine goes from 'normal-loud'.
