Question Door speaker help

Working on a 09 HHR LT. car speakers gone out. Put alpine ones in the rear, they souns good. Went to pur the front speakers in. Leaving the factory tweeters in place and just do speakers in the doors. Got one done and it does not souns that great compared to the drivers side factory speaker was still working. Do I need to do something else to make the sound as good as they should? Is something else needed in the wiring them up. The speakers we got came with new tweeters but were going to not use them as the factoey ones still work fine.

Are they the correct impedance? Did you phase them correctly?

The only thing I did was unplug the factory speaker. Bought the pigtail to retain the factory plug. Plugged in the new speaker.

The out of phase that Don mentioned - Is the same wire that is attached to the + on the old speaker, connected to the + on the new speaker? And the impedance is the ohms - Is the new speaker the same ohms as the old?

EDIT: referring to the old speaker that is still installed.

I agree, sounds like the ohms are mismatched. Might consider a small matching transformer to balance out the impedance.

Anybody know what size small matching transformer wouls be needed? I have alwyas had upgraded componets with cross overs and a amp to get power. Never put speakers in like this without cross overs and a amp.

Come to think of it if the set came with tweeters there should be some sort of crossover network, that probably is not compatible with the stock one.

I really don't know anything about sound systems past the words.

Is it not printed on the back of the speaker?
